A Warm Welcome Awaits at Age Concern Sandwich - 05 Nov 2026

As the colder months arrive, we want to remind everyone that Age Concern Sandwich is a Warm Welcome Space – a warm, friendly and comfortable place where you can spend time during the day, enjoy some company and feel completely at home.

The national Warm Welcome Campaign brings together thousands of community spaces across the UK. What originally began as a response to rising energy costs and the challenges of keeping homes warm has grown into something much bigger – creating places where people can connect, make friends and feel part of their local community.

And that is exactly what we want our Well-being Centre to be.

Why sit at home with the heating on when you can spend some time with us?
During the colder winter months, heating a home all day can be expensive.

If you would rather save a little on your heating bills, you are very welcome to spend part of your day at Age Concern Sandwich instead.

Our Well-being Centre is warm, cosy and open Monday to Friday from 10am until 4pm.

There is no need to book and no obligation to buy anything.

Simply come in, find a comfortable spot and make yourself at home.

You could meet a friend, read the paper, have a chat, find out what is happening locally or simply enjoy being somewhere warm and welcoming for a few hours.

More than somewhere warm
Warm Welcome Spaces are about far more than simply turning the heating on.

They are about friendship, conversation and connection.

The Warm Welcome Campaign says that many people visit their local space to meet others and connect with their community. Their research also shows that more than half of visitors would otherwise have been at home with their heating switched off.

That makes spaces such as ours particularly important during the winter months.

At Age Concern Sandwich there is always a friendly face around, and our Well-being Centre is often full of conversation, laughter and activity.

You can come along on your own or bring a friend. You do not have to join an activity or attend an appointment – you are equally welcome simply to spend some time here.

Warmth, comfort and good company
Whether you stay for half an hour or spend a few hours with us, we want you to feel comfortable.

You may even discover something new while you are here. There are activities, groups, information services and events taking place throughout the week, as well as our café if you decide you would like something to eat or drink.

But there is absolutely no expectation to spend money.

Our Warm Welcome Space is here for the community.

Everyone is welcome
The Warm Welcome Campaign describes its spaces as places of belonging – somewhere new friendships can be formed and people can feel valued and connected.

We think that sums up Age Concern Sandwich perfectly.

So, as the temperatures drop, remember that you do not have to spend every day at home worrying about putting the heating on.

Come in, get cosy and enjoy some good company.

Just turn up – a warm welcome awaits you.
