A wonderful afternoon tea - 22 May 2026

Our Afternoon Tea at Age Concern Sandwich was a wonderful success, bringing together delicious homemade food, great company and plenty of smiles. From the moment preparations began in the kitchen to the final cups of tea being poured, there was a real buzz of excitement throughout the centre.

Behind the scenes, our hardworking kitchen team and volunteers had been busy all morning creating a fantastic spread for everyone to enjoy. Freshly baked quiches and golden sausage rolls came straight out of the oven filling the kitchen with the most amazing aromas, while trays of sandwiches were carefully prepared alongside homemade fruit scones, complete with clotted cream and jam. The finishing touches came in the form of an irresistible selection of homemade cakes which looked every bit as good as they tasted.

The photos show just how much effort and care went into the event, with the kitchen full of activity and teamwork as everyone worked together to make the afternoon special. It was wonderful to see all the delicious food lined up ready to be served and even more wonderful to see our guests enjoying every bite.

As lunchtime got underway, the room quickly filled with conversation, laughter and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Friends caught up over tea and cake, new friendships were made and everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy the chance to relax and spend time together. The smiles around the room said it all.

Events like these are about so much more than the food. They provide an opportunity for people to come together, socialise and enjoy a sense of community, something that is at the heart of everything we do at Age Concern Sandwich.

A huge thank you goes to our fantastic kitchen staff and volunteers whose hard work made the afternoon possible, and of course to everyone who came along and supported the event. We are delighted that so many people had such a lovely time and we are already looking forward to hosting the next one.
