Celebrating Our Wonderful Volunteers - 15 Jun 2026

Last Friday, we had the absolute pleasure of celebrating some very special people: our fantastic volunteers.

To show our appreciation, we held a lovely afternoon tea party, complete with plenty of treats, smiles, and conversation. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying themselves, catching up, and taking a well-deserved moment to relax. After all the time, care, and energy our volunteers give throughout the year, it felt only right that they should be the ones being looked after for a change.

A highlight of the afternoon was a speech from our Chairman, Jeffrey Sneller, who thanked everyone for their incredible dedication and support. Jeffrey spoke warmly about how proud we are of our volunteers and how much they mean to Age Concern Sandwich Centre for the Retired. Quite simply, we could not operate without them.

Our volunteers help in so many ways, often quietly and without fuss, although we do suspect some of them may run on tea, biscuits, and sheer goodwill. Whether they are lending a hand, offering a friendly smile, helping things run smoothly, or brightening someone’s day, their contribution makes a real difference.

The afternoon was a lovely reminder of just how lucky we are to have such a committed and caring team around us. Our volunteers are at the heart of what we do, and this celebration was just a small way of saying a very big thank you.

To all our volunteers: thank you for everything you do. You are appreciated more than words, cake, or even a very full teapot can say.
