Celebrating the Women of Age Concern Sandwich Ahead of International Women’s Day – Sunday 8 March - 05 Mar 2026

This Sunday we mark International Women’s Day — a time to recognise and celebrate the achievements, strength and contributions of women everywhere. Here at Age Concern Sandwich, it is also a wonderful opportunity to shine a light on the incredible women who make our charity what it is.

Women are at the heart of our organisation — from the clients who bring warmth and wisdom to our centre, to the volunteers who give their time so generously, and the staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes to provide support, care and companionship.

Our Clients – Inspiring Every Day

The women who attend our centre and activities are truly inspiring. They bring with them a lifetime of experience, resilience and stories that enrich our community. Many have supported families, built careers, volunteered in their own time, and played vital roles in shaping the community we know today.

Their humour, friendship and positivity are what make our lunches, classes and social groups so special. They remind us daily that connection, conversation and shared laughter are powerful things.

Our Volunteers – The Heart of Our Work

We are incredibly fortunate that so many of our volunteers are women who choose to give their time, energy and kindness to support others. Whether helping in our wellbeing centre, supporting activities, assisting in our charity shops, providing hairdressing services, driving clients and delivering meals, or fundraising in the community, they make a real and lasting difference.

From offering a listening ear to ensuring someone can attend their favourite activity safely, their compassion and dedication ensure that everyone who walks through our doors feels welcome and valued.

Our Staff – Commitment and Care

Our staff team work with passion and professionalism to ensure that Age Concern Sandwich continues to provide essential services for older people in our area. Their commitment creates a safe, friendly and supportive environment where people can feel confident, connected and cared for.

Celebrating Together

International Women’s Day is not just about recognising achievements on a global scale — it is also about celebrating the everyday contributions that strengthen our local communities.

To all the women who are part of Age Concern Sandwich — thank you. You help create a place of friendship, dignity and belonging, and we are proud to celebrate you today and every day.

Happy International Women’s Day from everyone at Age Concern Sandwich.
